INTRODUCTION
The world is getting smaller. Genaral practitioners are increasingly coming in contact with people from different countries and culture is becoming an important issue that determines communication between the doctor and the patient. Doctors need tools that would help them in their work in a multicultural environment.
Because of the nature of general practice it is important that these issues are properly taught in a GP setting. This is the challenge that this year's course of learning and teaching in family medicine is aiming to address. The participants will have an opportunity to share their views and experiences with dealing with patients from different cultures. Because of the international nature of the course, we will be able to exchange opinions and views from different health care systems, societies and cultures.
The participants of the course will be able to attend the 1st annual meeting of GP/FM teachers in Europe and present their products from the groups during it for the price of attending the course.
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
At the end of the course the participants will be able to:
- Understand the meaning of patient centerdness and partnership model of clinical care in doctor patient relationship
- Understand the importance of patient centerdness and the partnership model of clinical care
- Understand the importance of appropriate relationship between patient and the doctor in the context of his/her everyday routine and principles of general practice
- Use strategies for dealing with delicate issues of doctor patient relationship
- Apply the strategies in a practical situation
- Understand the importance of incorporating teaching about doctor patient relationship in their students' and trainees' programmes
- Develop a teaching strategy on doctor patient relationship in general practice that can be used in his/her country
COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course is aimed at general practitioners involved in teaching general practice at university or practice level and will be held in English. It will be based on presentations by experts, group work, field work and open discussion in small groups and plenaries. The participants will be supplied with course material in advance. A EURACT certificate will be issued to the participants at the end of the course. The participants will be able to visit family offices and explore the organisation of primary health care in Slovenia.
SOCIAL EVENTS
Pre-conference: sightseeing, mountain trip etc. Participants have to apply through the hotel. Igor will probably organise a short walking trip on Sunday for the course directors and group leaders (as every year) for those who will arrive earlier.
During conference: dancing lessons, vine inspection, waterpolo, farewell dinner etc.

INTRODUCTION
Today's physicians are faced with an increasing pressure to work effectively and without mistakes. The pressure from the public is increasingly challeging. It is obvious that medical errors are a part of doctor's reality and increasingly expersts agree that a rational and systematic approach to this matter is necessary. Strategies for dealing with medical errors already exist, but they are not universally known nor universally applicable. The challenge how to teach about medical errors in a GP setting is an important one. General practice/family medicine has a developed specific approaches how to deal with the many aspects of medical errors that frequently occur in practice. The teaching methods how to convey these approaches to students, trainees and experienced doctors are not universally known and need to be adapted to the situation where the doctor practises.

INTRODUCTION
Today's physicians are faced with identifying, evaluating, and applying a huge quantity of medical information. The medical information system is a "jungle" in which the unguided visitor can become lost or disoriented. From original research to clinical experience, each source of medical information is valuable; the trick is to learn which source is best for the specific information being sought. Armed with this guide, clinicians can find the most appropriate source of information, evaluate it quickly, and apply it confidently in their efforts to provide the best care for their patients.
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
At the end of the course the participants will be able to:
- Understand the logic behind EBM
- Use strategies for finding EBM
- Understand EBM in the patient's context (the family and community)
- Search for an answer to clinical problems
- Make an audit of own work from the perspective of EBM

Introduction
Over recent years a greater proportion of the teaching at undergraduate level is being provided by primary health care teachers, including general practice based teaching, clinical skills training etc. This has led to an increase in the demand for teachers coming from a practice setting. There is s similar need for trainers involved in specialty training for general practice. Most of trainers in practice, working on one-to-one basis, are not trained for this task.
The basic principles required for this type of teaching are different from other teaching methods. One-to-one teaching in the practice setting requires the application of specific methodologies and evaluation techniques, which may involve the patient with possible consequences to his/her health status. It also requires special knowledge and skills in feedback, and a close working relations between trainee and trainer.
General aim of the course: to improve quality of General Practice/Family Medicine teaching in European countries.
Objectives of the Course
- To improve level of one-to-one teaching in European countries
- To ensure dissemination of knowledge and skills by course participants in their own countries
- To stimulate development of FM teaching in participating countries
Content of the course The Leonardo EURACT course for trainers in Family Medicine was designed and developed jointly by European Academy of Teachers in General Practice (EURACT) and the Leonardo da Vinci project â€oTowards development of the European Network of Postgraduate and Continuing Education of Family Physiciansâ€?. Most of the activities are based on active and interactive work of the participants. Course participants will be provided with course materials, prepared by course organizers.

Teams of four teachers from six different countries have been selected by their national EURACT representatives. These teams will be expected to translate the course materials and repeat the course in their own countries in local language.
