INTRODUCTION
Today's physicians are faced with identifying, evaluating, and applying a huge quantity of medical information. The medical information system is a "jungle" in which the unguided visitor can become lost or disoriented. From original research to clinical experience, each source of medical information is valuable; the trick is to learn which source is best for the specific information being sought. Armed with this guide, clinicians can find the most appropriate source of information, evaluate it quickly, and apply it confidently in their efforts to provide the best care for their patients.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
At the end of the course the participants will be able to:

  • Understand the logic behind EBM
  • Use strategies for finding EBM
  • Understand EBM in the patient's context (the family and community)
  • Search for an answer to clinical problems
  • Make an audit of own work from the perspective of EBM

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course is aimed at general practitioners involved in teaching general practice and will be held in English. It will be based on presentations by experts, group work and open discussion in small groups and plenaries. The participants will be supplied with course material in advance.
